My Sister's Wedding
Skittles. Hand- thrown Raku vases. “Butterfly Kisses.” Smith and Westin. Heritage. Best friends. Tears. Laughs. Hand-written vows. Family. Tri-tip. Sunflowers. Sunshine. Crisp mountain air. I was all this that was combined together to create one of the most memorable events in my family, and quite frankly, in my own life. So much hard work and planning went into making it a special, unique, memorable and perfect day, and all of it paid off because it was all that and even more. It was so much more than all the details though. It was about two families rooted in the love of Christ and in the heritage before them joining together to celebrate a special and momentous occasion. It was a testimony to many about how awesome and full of splendor and love our God is. I was deeply blessed and my faith was increased by my being part of the wedding. I realized how important my family is to me and how much I love them. I love them with all of my heart

Spring Break!
For most, the mention of Spring Break conjures images of sun, sand and palm trees, but for me Spring break is snow, pines, trees and mountains...it is home--familiar sights, smells and tastes and Mama's home cooking and the warmth of the fire...yup that is what my spring breaks entail at this point in my life and OMG! What an amazing time I had at home with my family! I just played the whole time. I went snowmobling four days in a row and snowboarding three days in a row. I even did both in one day once! I love my hometown and my family and am so blessed to live in such beautiful places year round. I mean it doesn't get much better than Crowley Lake and Santa Barbara!

Rev. Barry Brown
Reverend Barry Brown of Golden Gate Community Church spoke in Westmont's Chapel this morning and what an encouragement and inspiration he was. He talked about how in whatever profession, we can glorify and serve the Lord. So true! Definitely, one of my favorite annual chapel speakers! (and quite animated to boot which made photographing him much more interesting ;))
Introducing Syllipsi
Well, afer much thought, planning and anticipation, we are excited to announce to you the start of the first photography club Westmont has ever seen: SYLLIPSI. The purpose of this cool new entity is to create a venue for Westmont photographers that enables them to showcase their work, learn from their peers, and ultimately become better photographers. We hope to unite the Westmont community through the artistic medium of photography and learn how to freeze moments in time, capture the expression of emotion and appreciate the beauty in God’s creation.
You may be askin' "of what do you speak when you say Syllipsi?" Well, syllipsi is the Greek word of capture. And we photographers capture images, eh? see the connection? I know, I know we are just that cool...
So I bet you Westmonters want to get involved, don't ya? well, click here, bookmark it and check back regularly to see when and how!

Welcome
With a bit of encouragement and insistence from friend and inspiration, Dane Sanders, so without further ado, I introduce you to the on-going and ever-changing blog of my photo life and world. I hope that this will serve as a place where you can get to know me a bit and as a lens (pun-intended :)) into my life and journey as a photographer. For those of you who were followers of my previous blog, Bearings and Headings, this is it only better and directed more toward my photography!
